What matters in a proxy for web scraping?

Five things decide most scraping projects:

  • Rotation control. A new IP per request spreads load; a sticky session keeps one IP through a login-free flow such as paginated search.
  • Price per GB at your volume. Check whether traffic expires. Ours is billed in decimal GB (1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes) and never expires.
  • Targeting. Country and city cover most SERP and price work; ZIP or ASN matter for narrow tests.
  • Concurrency and retries. Your code should back off on 429 and 5xx responses.
  • Your targets. Proxyway's 2026 research found the residential median success rate fell from 99.28 % on infrastructure to 74.43 % on real targets such as Amazon, Google and Instagram. Test on your own targets.

How do I use a rotating residential proxy in Python?

Put targeting and session settings in the username, USERNAME-country-{cc}-city-{city}-session-{id}-ttl-{minutes}, and point requests at the gateway. The Python proxy guide covers httpx, aiohttp and Scrapy; the web scraping use case covers retries and pacing.

requests: new IP per request, then a 10-minute sticky session
import random
import requests

GATEWAY = "gw.namelessproxy.com:7777"

def proxy(country="eg", session=None, ttl=10):
    user = f"USERNAME-country-{country}"
    if session:
        user += f"-session-{session}-ttl-{ttl}"
    url = f"http://{user}:PASSWORD@{GATEWAY}"
    return {"http": url, "https": url}

# New exit IP on every request
for page in range(1, 4):
    r = requests.get(f"https://example.com/catalog?page={page}", proxies=proxy(), timeout=30)
    print(page, r.status_code)

# Same exit IP for 10 minutes
p = proxy(session=f"s{random.randint(1000, 9999)}")
print(requests.get("https://api.ipify.org", proxies=p, timeout=30).text)

It depends on the data, the site and the claim; this is not legal advice. US courts have reached different results depending on whether a case was about contract, the CFAA or copyright. Under the GDPR, public pages can still contain personal data, so collecting it needs a lawful basis. Our Acceptable Use Policy allows public-data collection only, asks you to respect site terms and robots.txt, and blocks banking, government and payment portals.

How did we rank these providers?

We kept providers that accept crypto and publish residential prices and a KYC rule on their own pages, checked on 5 October 2026. Firm no-KYC statements rank first, conditional ones next, and KYC-gated providers last. Within each group, pay-as-you-go price decides. Several providers here beat us on trial terms or targeting depth; we list them anyway. Full KYC data: Proxy KYC Index 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Residential or mobile proxies for web scraping?

Residential, in most cases. Residential traffic costs less per GB, from $0.53/GB here, and rotates per request. Mobile IPs suit a few strict targets and mobile-only content; our rotating mobile pool starts at $1.50/GB. Start with residential and move only the hard targets to mobile.

How many GB does a scraping project use?

It depends on page weight and on what you download. A page fetched with all its images and scripts weighs much more than the same page fetched as HTML only. Block images, fonts and media in your scraper where you can. We bill in decimal GB (1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes), and unused traffic never expires.

Should I rotate the IP on every request?

For independent pages, yes: per-request rotation spreads load across many IPs. Use a sticky session when several requests must come from the same IP, such as a paginated search or a cart. On Nameless Proxy, add a session ID and a ttl to the username to keep one exit for up to 60 minutes.

Can I pay for scraping proxies with USDT or USDC?

Yes. Nameless Proxy accepts BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC with no KYC; stablecoins (USDT, USDC) keep a stable dollar value. You top up a prepaid balance, credited after the network confirmations shown on the top-up screen, then buy packs from it instantly. Minimum top-up $25; unused balance stays on your account (never expires, non-refundable). See paying with crypto.

Do you offer a scraping API or CAPTCHA handling?

No. Nameless Proxy sells residential and 4G/5G mobile proxies only. Your scraper handles headers, retries, rendering and pacing. If you need a managed unblocking API, providers such as Bright Data sell one; see our Bright Data alternative page for what it requires.

Which targets are blocked on Nameless Proxy?

Banking and payment portals, government portals and SMTP ports 25, 465 and 587 are blocked for every customer. Fraud, account takeover, credential stuffing and spam are banned. Abuse reports go to [email protected] and get a reply as a priority. Full list: Acceptable Use Policy.
