Quick answer

What is a mobile proxy?

A mobile proxy is a proxy that sends your traffic out through a 4G or 5G modem or phone on a mobile carrier's network; Nameless Proxy rents dedicated 4G/5G mobile proxies from $2.63/day, with no KYC and payment in crypto. Websites see a carrier IP, which the operator shares among many real subscribers, so sites block it with care. No KYC — no ID, no selfie, no documents. Pay in crypto.

How does a mobile proxy work?

A mobile proxy relays your request through a modem that holds a carrier SIM card. The website sees the IP address that the mobile operator gave that modem, and the operator's network as its owner.

The path of one request

  1. You connect to the port

Your browser, phone or script connects to the proxy endpoint with its host, port, username and password.

  2. The modem forwards it

The request leaves through a 4G/5G modem with a real SIM card, on the carrier and in the country you chose.

  3. The carrier shares the address

The operator's carrier-grade NAT sends it out from a public IP that many of its subscribers share.

  4. The website answers

The site sees a carrier IP, like any phone user of that operator, and the answer comes back the same way.

The IP changes when the modem reconnects to the carrier. On a dedicated port you decide when: by rotation link, by API or on a timer, with a new IP in about 5–15 seconds. The step-by-step scripts are in how to rotate a mobile IP.

What is a phone proxy?

"Phone proxy" has two meanings, and people use both:

  1. A mobile proxy. A proxy that exits through a phone or a 4G/5G modem on a carrier network. In this sense, a phone proxy and a mobile proxy are the same thing. Some networks use real phones whose owners opted in; others use modems with SIM cards that the network controls.
  2. A proxy set up on your phone. Your own phone sends its browsing through a proxy server, which can be residential, mobile or any other type. The setup steps for Android and iPhone are below.

Nameless Proxy sells the first kind: dedicated 4G/5G ports and rotating mobile traffic. You can use either from a phone, a laptop or a server.

Why are mobile IPs harder to block?

Because each carrier IP stands for many real people. Mobile operators share public IPv4 addresses among many subscribers with carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT): RFC 6888 sets out the requirements for these NATs, and RFC 6598 reserves the 100.64.0.0/10 range for the carrier side.

Cloudflare wrote in October 2025 that one IPv4 address may represent hundreds or even thousands of users, and that CGNAT is common on mobile networks. Blocking such an address would also block innocent subscribers, so websites usually treat carrier IPs with caution.

It is not immunity. Cloudflare also measured that CGNAT addresses are rate-limited about three times more often than other IPs. Pace your requests, and do not expect a mobile IP to fix a scraper that sends too much traffic.

Dedicated port or rotating mobile pool?

Choose a dedicated port when you need one carrier IP under your control for hours or weeks: it costs from $2.63/day, with unlimited traffic and no daily cap, and you pick the country and carrier. Choose rotating mobile traffic when you need carrier IPs spread over many requests: it is billed per GB from $1.50/GB, targeted by country, and the traffic never expires. How to use a mobile proxy on Android

Android has a built-in proxy setting for each Wi-Fi network. It sends browser traffic through an HTTP proxy, but it has no field for a username and password. Add the public IP of your Wi-Fi network to the IP whitelist in the dashboard first, so the proxy accepts your phone without a password.

Set a proxy on Android (Wi-Fi)

  1. Whitelist your network

In the dashboard, add the public IP address of the Wi-Fi network your phone uses to the IP whitelist.

  2. Open the Wi-Fi network

Go to Settings, then Network & internet, then Internet, and tap the gear next to your Wi-Fi network. On some brands the path is Connections, then Wi-Fi.

  3. Edit the proxy

Tap Edit (the pencil), open Advanced options, and set Proxy to Manual.

  4. Enter host and port

Type the proxy host and the HTTP port from the dashboard, then Save.

  5. Check the IP

Open an IP checker in Chrome. It should show the proxy's IP and location, not your own.

How to use a mobile proxy on iPhone

On iPhone and iPad, the proxy is also set per Wi-Fi network, and iOS supports a username and password. The setting does not apply to cellular data.

Set a proxy on iPhone (Wi-Fi)

  1. Open the network

Go to Settings, then Wi-Fi, and tap the info button (i) next to the network you are connected to.

  2. Configure the proxy

Scroll down to HTTP Proxy, tap Configure Proxy and choose Manual.

  3. Enter the details

Type the proxy host as Server and the HTTP port as Port. Turn on Authentication and enter the username and password from the dashboard.

  4. Save and check

Tap Save, then open an IP checker in Safari to confirm the new IP and location.

Can you use mobile proxies on a PC?

Yes. A mobile proxy is a network endpoint, so it works from any device: the website sees the carrier IP whatever machine sends the request. On a computer you have three options: the system proxy, a browser's own setting, or the tool you use.

WhereHow to set itLogin
Windows 11Settings → Network & internet → Proxy → Manual proxy setup → Set up: turn on Use a proxy server, enter host and port, SaveBrowsers ask for the username and password
macOSSystem Settings → Network → your connection → Details → Proxies: turn on Web proxy (HTTP) and Secure web proxy (HTTPS), enter host and portTurn on Proxy server requires password
Firefox (any OS)Settings → General → Network Settings → Manual proxy configuration: HTTP Proxy and port, tick Also use this proxy for HTTPSFirefox asks on the first request
Scripts and toolsPass the proxy URL, for example curl -x http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORTInside the URL, or IP whitelist

Menu names change between versions. Host, port, username and password are shown in the dashboard for each port.

Check the exit IP from a computer
# Replace HOST, PORT, USERNAME and PASSWORD with the values from the dashboard
curl -x http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@HOST:PORT https://ipinfo.io/json

# Same check over SOCKS5, with DNS resolved by the proxy
curl --socks5-hostname HOST:SOCKS_PORT -U USERNAME:PASSWORD https://ipinfo.io/json

Mobile proxy or residential proxy?

For most scraping, SERP and price work, a residential proxy is the better deal: it costs from $0.53/GB, against $1.50/GB for rotating mobile traffic. Keep mobile for strict, mobile-first targets and for phone-specific checks. The full comparison: residential vs mobile proxy.

Mobile proxies: FAQ

Are mobile proxies 4G or 5G?

It depends on the carrier and on where the modem is. Where the operator offers 5G and the modem supports it, a port can connect over 5G; elsewhere it runs on 4G/LTE. At Nameless Proxy each port shows its network type, and we do not promise 5G or a particular speed.

How often does a mobile proxy IP change?

Whenever the modem reconnects. On a dedicated port you decide: rotate by link or API, at most once every 30 seconds, or set a timer from 2 to 1,440 minutes. The carrier can also reassign the IP by itself, and a rotation occasionally returns the same address.

Is a mobile proxy faster than a residential proxy?

Not necessarily. Speed depends on the carrier, the signal where the modem sits and the load on the cell. A dedicated port gives you one modem's capacity, with unlimited traffic and no daily cap. For bulk data, residential traffic is usually cheaper per GB; test both on your own targets.

Does a mobile proxy hide who I am?

No. It changes the IP address websites see. It does not hide the accounts you log in to, your cookies or your browser's fingerprint. Our crypto payments are recorded on public blockchains too, although we never ask who you are. For whole-device privacy, a VPN is often the better tool.

Can I use a mobile proxy on cellular data on my iPhone?

Not with the simple setting. The iPhone's HTTP Proxy option belongs to each Wi-Fi network and does not cover cellular data. Connect the phone to Wi-Fi and set the proxy there, or use an app that has its own proxy setting.

How much does a mobile proxy cost?

At Nameless Proxy, a dedicated 4G/5G port costs $2.63 for 1 day, $11.25 for 7 days or $20.25 for 30 days, with unlimited traffic and no daily cap. Rotating mobile traffic starts at $1.50/GB. Prices as of October 2026; all tiers on the pricing page.

Do I need ID to rent a mobile proxy?

Not at Nameless Proxy. We never ask for ID, a selfie, documents or a phone number, for any product or amount. Your login is a random 16-digit account number; you top up in crypto (minimum $25) and rent the port from your balance. See our no-KYC policy.

Can I use a mobile proxy to receive SMS codes?

No. A mobile proxy carries internet traffic only; it has no phone number and receives no SMS. Using proxies for phone-verification abuse, account farming or ban evasion is banned by our Acceptable Use Policy. Agencies may use a dedicated port to manage their clients' existing accounts, within each platform's rules.
